As the founder of Midwest Soul Vegfest and a cancer survivor, I am living evidence of the healing power of a whole plant-based lifestyle. It saved my life.
That same diet is also the only diet that has ever been shown in the medical literature to halt and reverse established coronary artery disease – currently our number one killer. It is now my passion to provide others the education and support that made it possible for me to turn my health around.
Our African-American community is facing epidemics of obesity, asthma, cancer, violence, and poverty resulting from negative environmental, social, economic and cultural influences.
Our youth are especially at risk as Fast food, food deserts, and overwhelmed parents hinder their ability to make healthy choices. But we have a plan to address these challenges.
The Midwest Soul VegFest mission is to advocate, promote and educate the African American Community on choosing a healthier lifestyle.
We believe that having access to health resources and learning how to eat a clean, organic, plant-based diet will improve the health of the individual and the planet, while also providing the foundation for a longer, more energized lifespan. Working together we want to build a strong health and justice focused community base.
The time is right for our community to learn that food can be your medicine. So empower them with the resources and knowledge to successfully make healthy lifestyle change. Good personal health also facilitates people supporting each other and building healthier communities.
We are expecting over 5000 participants to enjoy our entertainment, educational workshops, plant based food vendors, and to benefit from information presented by our nationally recognized speakers. Admission will be free and open to everyone.
With your support we want to bring awareness to this cause.
